Grayline (tel: 262 3681) runs a daily bus, departing at around to San José and on to Arenal. Call in advance to be picked up from your hotel. All public buses arrive and depart from the terminal, half a block southwest of the Parque Central.

Getting Around
Bicycle is a fine way to get around town, and pedaling out to Manzanillo or to the other beaches east of Puerto Viejo is one of the highlights of this corner of Costa Rica. You'll find bicycle rentals all over town and at many lodges: Peter's Bikes on the Beach (opposite Stanford's Restaurant); Los Ticos (tel: 750 0611; next to Rocking J's) and Tienda Marcos (tel: 750 0303).
