Introducing Victoria
Wandering the tree-shaded lanes of this charming little fishing port, it is easy to see why it has been drawing summer holidaymakers since the 19th century. A ferry used to make a regular three-hour voyage from Charlottetown to deliver weary city folk for some seaside fun. The entire village still fits neatly in the four blocks laid out when the town was formed in 1819. Colorful clapboard and shingled houses are home to more than one visitor who was so enthralled by the place they decided to stay. There’s a profusion of art shops, cafés and eateries, as well as an excellent summer theater festival. One of the settlement’s most appealing features is the lack of traffic – everyone parks and strolls.
