Introducing Jasper Town & Around

It’s hard to describe Jasper and not sound like you are either on the payroll of the tourist board or over-exaggerating. But it’s all true: icy glaciers tumble down towering rocky peaks and melt to form wild white water–choked rivers that cut through pine-filled valleys. In turn, these massive U-shaped glacially formed valleys create a home for countless species of flora and fauna, including animals such as the much photographed mountain sheep and the much sought after and elusive grizzly bear. Meadows filled with wildflowers nestle in with the forest and give the furry residents the perfect places to strike a pose for photographs.

Right smack-bang in the middle of the mix is the town of Jasper. Quaint and quiet, especially compared with its big brother Banff, it’s the sort of mountain town you’d expect to find in this alpine paradise. It’s not overly commercialized, yet you can still get a great meal and a room with a view. Luckily all of this is protected – the 10, 878-sq-km Jasper National Park ensures that it should all be around for a while yet.
