Caye Caulker is best visited during the dry season (December to May) - it's always more fun frolicking on the beach when the sun's out, and outdoor activities are the main drawcard here.
Hoardes of tourists arrive during the couple of weeks each side of Christmas and Easter. Caye Caulker is becoming an increasingly popular island retreat, so book accommodation in advance. Be aware that prices also skyrocket during these times.
Expect muchos festivities around Fiesta de Carnaval (February/March), Holy Week (March/April) and from Christmas to New Year. Caye Caulker has a Lobsterfest to mark the beginning of the new lobster-fishing season - the first weekend in July is nothing but music, fun and lots of succulent lobster.
Travel during September and November is best avoided as hurricanes have been known to strike and there can be landslides and flooding as well as ferocious winds.
Like the rest of Belize, Caye Caulker is typically hot and humid for most of the year, though a fairly constant sea breeze makes conditions out on the cayes far more pleasant. The wet season here runs from June to November - this is also hurricane season. Belize, however, has traditionally been struck by its most damaging hurricanes in September and November. December and February is a transitional period, with the year's coolest temperatures and a limited amount of rain. March and April are the driest months with average temperatures of around 29°C (84°F).
