The weather all over Belgium is fickle and a bout of sunshine puts everyone in a good mood. A temperate martime climate generally keeps things mild.
Rainfall is high in all seasons and there is major dampness coupled with biting cold in late spring to early autumn (May to September).
Summer in Hasselt (mid-July to mid-September) brings lovely warm to hot temperatures with no extreme highs to spoil the fun; however, expect rain about one day in three.
Hasselt's winter conditions (November to March) usually mean grey, wet days with occasional light snow. Temperatures tend to be above zero, so pack the right clothes and you can enjoy an uncrowded city.
