Tour description provided by Viator

Explore the Mexico City of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera on a tour of the Coyoacán and San Angel neighborhoods. Hear about Frida Kahlo’s life and art at La Casa Azul (the Blue House) and view pre-Columbian art collected by her husband, the mural artist Diego Rivera. Follow cobblestone streets to tucked-away plazas, visit ancient churches and stop to shop at craft fairs and street bazaars.

Your tour begins with pickup from your Mexico City hotel and a walk around Coyoacán, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Mexico City. Take a stroll along cobblestone streets to small plazas as you learn about the history of this area from your guide.

Stop to admire Coyoacán’s 16th-century mansions and visit the church of San Juan Bautista, one of the oldest churches in Mexico City. Step inside to see impressive paintings and chapels, then continue your exploration of this vibrant neighborhood with a stop at a local crafts fair, where you can sample a cup of traditional coffee (own expense).

Next, visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, known as La Casa Azul (‘the Blue House’), and learn about the turbulent and colorful life of this world-famous artist. See where Frida Kahlo lived with her husband, the muralist Diego Rivera, and examples of her iconic artwork.

Your tour then takes you to the neighborhood of San Angel to visit the Ex-Convento del Carmen, where Mexico City’s only mummified bodies were laid to rest. Admire the church’s three tiled domes, explore the former monastery grounds and visit the museum.

Enjoy free time for shopping and lunch (own expense) in the Saturday bazaar, where a variety of Mexican crafts can be purchased. In the afternoon, enjoy a visit to the Diego Rivera-Anahuacalli Museum, designed by Rivera to house his vast collection of pre-Columbian artifacts.

Your neighborhoods tour ends with return transfer to your Mexico City hotel.
