North Wales Image Disused slate mine, North Wales

Disused slate mine near Pont Cyfyng, around Betws y Coed, Snowdonia National Park - Wales. North Wales had a large slate mining area, with other types of metal mines. Now the mining industry has largely ended but there are vast disused mines and quarries left around the area, evidenced by the slate tips and adits.
