Getting there & around
Public transport is less prolific here than in other parts of Wales, so plan ahead. Tourist offices stock detailed timetables, or consult Traveline Cymru(0870 608 2 608; www.traveline-cymru.org.uk).
On the trains, what you gain in scenery you lose in frequency. Routes include the Cambrian Main Line (Shrewsbury-Aberystwyth), connecting with the Cambrian Coaster at Machynlleth and continuing on to Pwllheli. The Heart of Wales line (Shrewsbury-Swansea) runs across Powys and Mid Wales.
