Lonely Planet review for El Coyote
Spice up your life with some authentic Tex-Mex flavours at the Coyote. The fajitas, burritos and tacos are all designed to sate the appetite. The owner is even more fusion than the food: a mixture of French, Vietnamese, Lao and Cheyenne Indian.

Relocated and called 'Fajitas'. Great nachos and fajitas!

My boyfriend and I went last night after being handed a flyer on the beach. We'd had a hankering for some Mexican food since we went looking for 'El Coyote' a few days before and found it closed down. Off to 'Fajitas' we went and after speaking to the lady manager found out her husband had closed down El Coyote and downsized to this new restaurant.
It's a small place, little more than a cafe, suited more to travellers than holiday-makers looking for something a bit special. However the food was great - I'm no mexican food connoisseur, but I really enjoyed the chilli nachos and big portion of chicken fajitas we shared. There is a good choice of food and happy hour drinks on the menu, and the prices were fair. The ingredients seemed good quality, it was served steaming hot and all presented beautifully on wooden platters.
Definitely worth a go if you've been travelling a while and fancy something different!

The El Coyote is now located at the 86B Tran Phu, villa 17-18 (take the street across la Louisiane Brewhouse, walk 50m past the Light Hotel, it will be the first restaurant on the left).

Awful place!!! Don't go here!

This place was absolutely horrible. Coming from Texas and then California, I am picky about my Mexican food, but this place wasn't even close to good. The atmosphere was creepy, music scary (a very strange mix of loud pseudo-techno and other random music, definitely anything but Texan or Mexican), and the food was gross. Heavy on the oil and just done wrong. Who would even think of covering flan with ice? Who does that? I got really sick after eating there, not surprising. I didn't even eat the flan.
Also the crowd was quite interesting; mainly creepy older white men and young Vietnamese women, as well as a few Lonely Planet fans such as ourselves. We were let down for the first time on our trip by LP!Not good for: atmosphere, food, service

Signs of Mexico Over Cardboard Burritos and Games of Pool
ezy recommends this,
While the atmosphere in this El Cayote is warm and inviting the food certainly is not. The burritos tasted like they had been in the freezer for about a month and then reheated! The only flavour was garlic and they were also quite cardboard like. It was also very expensive for what it was. The service was incredibly slow considering there was only one other couple in the restaurant besides us. Having said that, the place has an interesting Tex-Mex décor with old bones, sombreros and lively colourful paintings lining the walls. The place also has a pool table – the only one we saw in Nha Trang! I would come here again for drinks and a game of pool but definitely not to eat.
