I'll be in Vietnam in February 2016 and I'd like to visit the Halong bay. The thing is I'm feeling lost between the guides and the internet informations. The prices of the tours I found seem very expensive. Do you have some tips ? Moreover, I'd like to see the terrestrial Halong bay. Any recommendations ?
Thank you :)
Is there any need to book hotels/guesthouses (low end of the budget) in advance, or can I just turn up and find something fairly easily? Also for trains, any need to book more than a couple of days in advance?
Thinking of mid Feb (after Tet) to mid March, if time of year makes a difference.
I am planning to go to Vietnam for one month starting on the 20th of November. What would be a recommended itinerary, considering that I'd like to do a bit of culture, trekking, beaches and scenic landscapes? I did my homework but it seems like there is plenty to see and I'd rather stick to the highlights. Any advice on this regard?
I'm planning a visit to Vietnam for a month, starting around mid Feb.
Given the climate at this time of year, am I right in thinking it would be better to start in the south and head north? Or does it really not make much difference?

Where all can I take them in Vietnam for 3-4 days so that they can enjoy the place, given it is Jan?
Some options I can think of:
2. Halong Bay
3. Da Lat
4. Bana Hills
So I did something without thinking - I booked a flight to Vietnam and didn't really consider the exact time in country. As a result I'm in Vietnam for 16 days (landing just after midnight on day 0 and flying out at 05:30 on day 16). So 2 questions.
1. I'm assuming the 15 days visa exemption means that if I enter on the first it's valid till the 16th right? (as in 15 days later as apposed to the 1st being day 1).
2. If that's the case, given that my flight out is very early in the morning of the…
Hope you can help with some suggestions. My husband and I have 3 months in Vietnam, currently we are enjoying the north, Hanoi, Halong and Sapa. Heading south from Hanoi but unsure of where to head to. Suggestions have been that there is not a lot to see between Hanoi and Hue, and therefore travel direct to Hue. Very little is written about this area so is difficult for us to gauge whether we make the effort to see this area. Time really isn't an issue. So far our definite stops will be Hue, Hoi…
