I was planning on the bus, boat, bus from Hanoi to Cat Ba Town (via Haipong), but I guess the Luong Yen Bus Station in Hanoi is closed as of August??? It that right? What is the most convenient transport at this time.
I have read that there are heavy rains during Oct and Nov in Hoi An. I will visit Hoi An for 2-3 days. In general I do not mind the rain, but do you think that it will be so heavy not to allow the typical sights? Would you cancelled the visit?

I'm looking for some advice regarding our upcoming trip to Vietnam. We have made the decision to go there quite spontaneously and there is not so much time left for planning ;) We are a family of 4, with 2 kids: 12 and 9 years old. I will be in Vietnam from november 13 until december 21. What would you recommend between Phu Quoc Vietnam and Koh Rong Cambodia in terms of food, beaches and vibe?
Thank you! :)
Hey, been in Vietnam 5 months now lol. Planning to head south to Phu Quoc in 10 days or so but was wondering if there is anything worth seeing south of Saigon and between the island that is breath taking/must see. Feeling a little tired here now, if there isn't anything great, will just go straight to Phu Quoc then maybe onto some other countries in South East Asia.
Thanks as always, MH.

You can now only get a 1-year multi-entry visa at the whopping cost of $135 for the visa on arrival, plus $65-85 for the letter of approval, depending on which travel agent you use. That adds up to a minimum of $200. This is a 4-fold increase from the single entry visa they used to give and is now one of the most expensive visas for US citizens in the world. The Vietnamese Department of Tourism and Vietnamese…
I couldn't find much online help about this so thought I would post my experiences which may help others in future.
Rather than travel by bus from HCMC to Phnom Penh I wanted to take the boat up the Mekong thus I needed to get to Chau Doc. I read online that the best option would be to use the Phuong Trang bus which leaves pretty much every hour from the early morning until late afternoon. Confusingly this company also appears to be called Futa Bus and the website is www.futabus.vn. There is an…
