my group arrive in Danang on the 2nd July and leaving Danang on the 8th July on sleeper train. The 3 places on the subject heading are 3 of the more popular places around here, but of course are in 3 different directions
Does anyone have any recommendation or advice regarding what/where to go for this 2nd-8thJuly, and of what order or duration of stay?
Im hoping to get some advice as to where and how much time is recommended for visiting places in Vietnam.
Im going to be solo traveling for around 17 days then making my way to the Philippines for the rest of my journey. Ive worked out it would be cheaper/quicker to fly from Ho Chi Min to the Philippines so am more inclined to visit the south..
The problem is I definitely want to visit Hoi An, and keep reading that Ha Long Bay is a MUST see and that Id be kicking myself if Id skip…
I will be traveling solo to Vietnam in August and want to visit Sapa and do some trek around mid-August. I was looking at travel options, and decided to book the night train on the way to Sapa from Hanoi and the bus for the way back as it had timing the worked better for my schedule.
I plan to take the 4pm bus to Hanoi from Sapa. However, I am having some concerns about safety, roads etc...
Can you share your experiences/recommentations on this bus route if you have done it?
Hello – I was originally going to Vietnam from September 12th to about the 28th. I will be doing landscape photography and I've been told at that time the SaPa rice terraces will be a golden color. (Hopefully not all harvested by then??) I do not want all golden color, so if I move my trip up by two weeks and go from August 29th to September 14th, would I get more green color in the rice fields? Or a mix of both colors? I don’t think I want all golden color. At worst a mix of the two. Can…
I just arrived to Da nang and booked myself into a hotel but I'm not very happy with it. Good location but no windows and around 460.000 vnd.
I wonder if that's what you get for the price here. Compared to Hoi An and Hue. The level was much higher.
Also to rent a bicycle is about 60,000 is that right?
I want to go and see the Marble mountains. Is it ok to ride along the seafront there?
Can anybody recommend a good hotel here. I will stay one more night.
I am on a long term project in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh.
I stay in a nice hotel and there is room for another person and open to anyone that wants to join me and hoping to nothing more than an open minded good company.
I've been doing a lot of reading recently on a number of websites about the train journey from Hanoi to Danang, particularly on the Livitrans train.
I must say I'm surprised at the number of negative comments. The majority of people tend to recommend flying over taking the train.
So I'm wondering - are the trains in Vietnam particularly awful? Is that why people are so against taking the trains? Surely they can't be any worse than Indian or Chinese trains. Or maybe people have simply lost…
The following was on an entrance 'gate' to Son My in 1994. I would be most grateful if someone could translaet it
into English. I assume the last line is the date of the massacre which took place there in March 1968.
There is a photo at this link http://www.wright-photo.com/mylai1.htm
The sign reads:
XA TINH KN
ENOI DE QUUOC
GAY RA I THAM SAT
SON MY NGAY 16. 3. 1968
Thanking you in anticipation. Sue, ON Canada.
The guidebooks which I've been reading say that Hoi An suffers from flooding on a regular basis in October and November each year. Can anyone tell me whether this is likely to extend into December? This will be a special trip and I wouldn't want to risk it being spoilt by flood waters.
Our tentative plan would be Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hue and Hoi An. All popular places for tourists but a good place to start for a first time visitor to Vietnam I hope. Nothing arranged so very happy to hear of…
