Hello! I am currently in the process of making a rough itinerary for my trip to SEA. At the moment, I'm unsure of which direction I should go through Vietnam. Debating if I should go with the following:
Koh Phangan-Siem Reap-Phnom Penh-Ho Chi Minh City-Nha Trang, Da Nang/Hoi An-Hanoi-Chiang Mai-Bangkok (Vietnam botom to top)
Koh Phangan-Bangkok-Chiang Mai-Hanoi-Da Nang/Hoi An-Nha Trang-Ho Chi Minh City- Phnom Penh-Siem Reap (Vietnam top to bottom)
From research, it seems that most go through from…
My partner and I recently spent a week in the Mekong Delta. While perhaps not the most photogenic part of Vietnam, it was amazingly interesting. I'm posting this to update some things in the guidebook which seem to have changed since it was written.
The first is that the Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary may need to come off the 'must do' list. We didn't end up going so I can't say for sure, but several locals we spoke to in Can Tho said the stork population had seriously depleted a few years ago and…

I live in Bangkok and I'm planning on a 10 day trip to Vietnam in mid to late June. I will fly first to Hanoi for a couple days then off to Sapa by either train or bus for a couple of days before returning to Hanoi. From there I plan on flying to Nha Trang for a 2 days then take the bus to HCMC for a few days before returning to Bangkok by air. Any recommendations on places to stay in Hanoi, Sapa, NhaTrang and HCMC? I'm not looking for the absolute cheapest but "inexpensive" would…
Any suggestions on the best way to transport large luggage from Hanoi Airport to a hotel in the old quarter? I will be arriving with a large bike box and have yet to find a good way to transport it without hefty fees...
I am planning a cycling trip from Hanoi to Hue for June of this year (hooray for rain!) And I am looking for route input and suggestions.
I would like to go from Hanoi to Halong Bay to Hue which is about 700km.
For anyone who has done this or a similar route: did you choose highway one or HCMC highway? I have heard HCMC is lovely but is further removed from trains - which we want to be close to due to time constraints.
How long did such a trip take you?
my group arrive in Danang on the 2nd July and leaving Danang on the 8th July on sleeper train. The 3 places on the subject heading are 3 of the more popular places around here, but of course are in 3 different directions
Does anyone have any recommendation or advice regarding what/where to go for this 2nd-8thJuly, and of what order or duration of stay?
Im hoping to get some advice as to where and how much time is recommended for visiting places in Vietnam.
Im going to be solo traveling for around 17 days then making my way to the Philippines for the rest of my journey. Ive worked out it would be cheaper/quicker to fly from Ho Chi Min to the Philippines so am more inclined to visit the south..
The problem is I definitely want to visit Hoi An, and keep reading that Ha Long Bay is a MUST see and that Id be kicking myself if Id skip…
I will be traveling solo to Vietnam in August and want to visit Sapa and do some trek around mid-August. I was looking at travel options, and decided to book the night train on the way to Sapa from Hanoi and the bus for the way back as it had timing the worked better for my schedule.
I plan to take the 4pm bus to Hanoi from Sapa. However, I am having some concerns about safety, roads etc...
Can you share your experiences/recommentations on this bus route if you have done it?
