I'm looking for a place in Hanoi where we can BBQ our food on the street. There are lots of places that offer this, but I'm looking for something in particular:

  • plastic chairs/tables on the street - not in a restaurant
  • individual BBQs on each table where you grill your own food
  • BBQs use charcoal
  • you order trays of marinated chicken, beef, seafood

As I said, there are lots of BBQ places in Hanoi, and some are quite well known, especially in the old quarter. But I don't want a place…

We will be travelling to Vietnam, Laos & Thailand next April and we are currently checking out visas. It appears that we can do the Vietnam one on-line and then pickup at the airport on arrival. Has anyone done this? Any problems with it or things we should be aware of. Any problems re payment? I'm on a Canadian passport and my husband on a UK one but it appears both can be done this way. Thanks.

Hi All,

Myself and two mates (all 21 year old females) are heading out to SE Asia in August and are currently researching where to stay...

We will be heading to Halong Bay 20th/21st/22nd/ August and we're currently looking for the best 2 day/1 night, 3 day/2 night cruise to get on to. We want to be cost effective but also have a good time, meet, explore and party with other similar minded people. We like drinking and going out but we don't want to go for the really budget ones which are…

Hello fellow travelers!

Me and my girlfriend have 16 days in Vietnam. We enjoy beaches, fishing, activities hikes, tours, diving and exploring. I was thinking we fly in and out of HCMC check it out and take a Mekong delta tour or boat for 3 or so days to phu quoc (trying to find what to do and how) and then enjoy the same island. If weather cooperates maybe fly to Hanoi and do ha long bay. I am open to options and having trouble finding out how to take Mekong delta with stops to phu quoc but…

I am planning to cross the China/Vietnam border at Móng Cái.
I cannot find any information about regular bus service between Mong Cai and Ha Long.

However, I have found Hydrofoil services to Ha Long. The 150 km trip will take only 3 hours. I have been worried if the speed of the hydrofil is too fast I might get sea sick.... Has anybody tried it yet?
Does anybody has information about regular bus service between Móng Cái and Ha Long?

Did anybody travelled from Nanning to Hanoi by train since e-visa is available?

I would like to know if they accept the e-visa at the passport control of Dong Dang train station (Vietnam border crossing).

There is a list of “landports” at the visa application web site but “Huu Nghi” is listed only. However, it's a road crossing border station, although, it is also in the town of Dong Dang (where the railway station is located, a couple of km/s away).

I wrote an e-mail to the Embassy…

My husband and I are going to visit Vietnam for our honeymoon. At first, we plan to go to Bali, Indonesia but the price for this trip is unaffordable for us and then decide to choose Vietnam. We wanna stay a romantic but not too crowded place. We will only have one week and visit some places like beaches or island. Think about Halong, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc. Highly appreciate any suggestions.

Hi everyone,

What is the most affordable way to get a Vietnam 30 day Visa as a Canadian. I can't find any concrete info online. I know there are companies that you a pay an extra fee and they process the visa. Do you have to use one of them?

Any suggestions is appreciated!
