I am looking for a like-minded travel buddy in North Vietnam who is interested in trekking the mountains. Must be in good shape, good sense of direction, relaxed with plenty of time. Currently I'm staying in Hanoi (Old Quarter). Plans are to start the journey on Wednesday. Considering all the options..... Pac Bo Cave and Ban Gioc Falls, Ha Giang, Sapa / Tavan (Fansipan mountain), Mai Chau / Pu Luong are all on the bucket list.
I need help as I cannot take final decision about the itinery way round.

Any Canadians out there that have applied for a Vietnam visa in Canada recently? Not a Visa-on-arrival - a proper visa before they left. I have a couple questions.
I want to book an hotel ....small place $20 bracket....and as part of the same booking a transfer from the airport to the hotel in Hanoi. However they want me to input my credit card details and the security number on the back into the hotels booking form...this is on their own website.......The thing is they only want the card as security as they want cash for the transaction once I reach the hotel.....In reality they will store my name, address, credit card and security number.... quite a lot…
Hi everyone. I'll be in Hanoi with my wife within 3 weeks. We'll be there for 15 days holiday, then flying out of Hanoi to BKK. We'll be doing Halong Bay and I'm considering Sapa too. However, I'm an oldie and not into trekking, so is there enough of interest at Sapa to make it worthwhile going there, without the trekking and without doing tours out into the hinterland?
We are still in the process of planning our itinerary (our flight to Hanoi is in two weeks!) and when reading blogs about Vietnam on internet, I came across a beautiful picture of rice terraces that was taken in Yen Bai province. It looked amazing! I wonder if Yen Bai is a good destination if we want to see rice terraces and rice harvest? My impression is that is much less touristy than Sapa but much easier to reach than Ha Giang (we concider going there, too). Have anybody been there…
We will be in Vietnam in March 2017. We are planning to take the day bus from Hanoi to Ha Giang. Is it easy to find a car and driver in Ha Giang for four persons to slowly travel from Ha Giang to Dong Van and Meo Vac and all the other sites in the area. Any recommendations for drivers and cars? What is the approximate price for a car and driver?
We may also want to go to Ba Be National Park. If we go to Ba Be National Park, we would like to return from that area to Hanoi by day bus. Is…
The Halong Bay experience is something that I am sure we will want to do when we fly to Hanoi next week prior to a trip to trek up in Sapa and then over to Laos. But it also seems to me to be A HUGE tourist trap with everybody offering all kinds of combinations, permutations and marketing hype- at huge budget differences...Can you help? We are a couple in our 50's, well experienced and travelled at a budget to low mid range budget, very selective where we put more money into things...we are…
