Lonely Planet review for Restaurant Alley

If you fancy skipping the main tourist scene on the riverfront, then try this small alley between Ð Dien Bien Phu and Ð Phan Dinh Phung where there are about a dozen local restaurants scattered on both sides of the street. Barbecued meats, seafood hotpots and simple vegetables, it’s all here.

    Well Needed Food

    annakus recommends this,

After traveling for one day my boyfriend and I were in need of some healthy feel good food. We decided to head to the Restaurant Alley in Can Tho. As we walked down the busy street full of restaurants we choose one selling noodle soup. The place was filled with locals and felt really relaxed.

The staff didn't speak much English but were friendly and helped us to order noodle soup and ice tea for two.
After our ice tea was delivered the staff started to bring out the accompaniments to our meal; a large tray of fresh herbs, some unknown to us; one tasted of aniseed, another of curry and the last was plain but fresh and crunchy, fresh chilies and lots of crisp bean sprouts.

When our soup came it was filled with perfectly cooked white noodles, beautifully tender chicken, onions fried until sweet, fresh spring onions and all covered in a really good stock.

We added the herbs, bean sprouts and chilies and then ate the lot. We both felt revitalized without having to spend much money at all. We both agreed that we had made the right choice to visit Can Tho.
