    I think it's really tourist food. Adequate, but uninspired.!

    Had the standard beef pho here. Found the beef to be very thick and extremely chewy. The broth was OK but better pho can definitely be found elsewhere. Also had spring rolls which were not too bad but would nit recommend this place for pho.

    Pho and Transfers in Ho Chi Minh

    Pho starts with a aromatic beef or chicken broth, made by simmering high quality beef, beef bones and spices for beef soup, and free roaming chickens and spices are used for the chicken soup. Next you decide which kind of noodles you would like, the standard is a thin, flat rice noodle but you can choose from egg noodles, clear noodles, or even thick round rice noodles. Last but not least, you choose from eye round steak, well done lean meat, well done flank, soft tendon, fatty brisket, white omasum beef tripe, skirt flank, and beef meat balls; that 64 possible combinations, any which way you like it. p
    We were recommended by the professional driver named Trung of Yourlocalbooking.com who picked us up from the International airport for a late flight. Were so hungry, we asked him a place for food. We came to this place and really enjoyed PHO.

    Fast food style pho. Not as big as the other chain (Pho 24) but you still see quite a lot around HCMC and equivalent food and price. Fine, but Hanoi is the place for Pho, and there are good restaurants and street cafes to eat it rather than chains like pho 2000. Depends what you are looking for, but think about it like having a burger - if you want a really good one you wouldnt go to mcdonalds you would want to go to a famous burger place. Similar only go to pho 2000 if you cheaper, fast food, but not if you want anything special.

    While it's not much to look at, very ordinary, the simple vegetarian pho I got was lip-smacking. The slightly high price is clearly for the legacy of the place.

    good cheap eats

    good fast and cheap food also serving rice dishes like chicken or curried meat over rice or with bread. we wanted to try the pho but were afraid that our stomachs would not handle the street food so we went to this place and it was quite good. we had the spring rolls over noodles, vegetarian pho with tofu, papaya shake and coconut drink. i would not recommend the papaya shake, it did not taste very good. But the pho was very good. you can also get a fresh coconut drink out of the coconut shell. the atmosphere is very basic. it is an eat and go type of place. we paid about 50,000 VND each person for a shake and noodle dish which came out to $2-$3USD each person. next door there is pho 24 which is a chain restaurant which looks a nicer inside but this restaurant can be found in other cities in vietnam like ha noi. pho 2000 is only in saigon. the servers do not speak english but menu is in english.

    Good for: Budget Travellers, Solo Travellers

    Pho 2000 - Pho for the President

    Have you ever eaten Pho, a type of rice noodle soup, in Vietnam? Pho, a typical dish of Vietnam people, has been existing for a long time. Only in cold days, having a hot and sweet smelling bowl of Pho to enjoy would make you experience the complete flavor of the special dish.
    I'm a Vietnamese, living in Ha Noi Capital. One month ago, I took the plane to Ho Chi Minh City for a meeting. I visited at least 6 restaurants to find a best of Pho. Today, I will recommend you a place to taste Pho in Ho Chi Minh City.
    If you come to Ho Chi Minh City, you should try a Pho restaurant beside Ben Thanh Market in District 1. It has a special name, Pho 2000. I'm not sure why they chose 2000... I'm thinking it has something to do with the Y2K trend back in the day. However, had a event which made the fame of the restaurant. That is in 2000, former US president Bill Clinton visited and had a pho bowl here.
    Came in. Although it's small but the restaurant is pretty clean, and it looks more like a Korean restaurant than a pho restaurant. Pho 2000 has a huge sign that says that they are the best in town.
    I ordered the No. 8, oxtail pho, which technically is a bowl of plain pho noodles with broth and a separate bowl full of oxtail meat on the side. The oxtail was a little on the fatty-side, like me, but the broth was excellent and the meat was pretty good quality. Clean, clear and full of flavor, they somehow were able to serve it piping hot without completely melting down the noodles. Of course, you can't eat pho without having egg rolls, and so we ordered one of those too, under protest from me, of course.
    Best part though... free refill on noodles. Come here, order a bowl of pho for $8, and eat as much noodles as you want.... there's no limit! AYCE pho!!!
