For all-night action, go to this little club. It attracts a fun crowd of drunks and dancers thanks to the party atmosphere. Upstairs is a rooftop bar to cool off or retreat from the smoke.

    Got scammed here by the manager and staff. Don't go.

    Last night my friend and I went to the Go2 bar near De Tham Street of Ho Chi Minh City. We had been there the previous night. We sat at a table and had several rounds of drinks and some food.

    Each time we got our drinks we were shown a bill and we paid it. But at the end of the night we were presented a bill for all of our drinks that we had already paid. We explained to the waiter that we had paid, he laughed and insisted on payment. We told him to get the manager. He came over and told us to point to the waiters that we had previously paid. We couldn't, we weren't paying attention to the waiter. The manager was stubborn and aggressive. We were still refusing to pay, and by this stage there are 5 security guards and a half-dozen bar staff around us. The money is not an issue ($30US), but the principle is.

    I say that we'll call the tourist police. The manager looks concerned. I hold up my phone and ask for the number for the tourist police. The manager grabs my phone and hands it to a security guard behind him. They tell me to the pay the bill if I want my phone. At this stage I figure that we need to forget the principle and worry about the practical outcome. I pull out money for the bill and I count it out in front of the manager. He won't give me the phone until I give him the money, and I won't give him the money until I get the phone. I give the money to an American guy who has been watching the drama and he hands it over to the manager when I get my phone back.

    2 morals; don't pay until you've finished all your eating and drinking, or if you do keep a copy of the bill. Secondly don't frequent the Go2 bar.

    Ho Chi Minh is a great city and the people are fantastic.

    Great place to spend those wee morning hours on a weekend

    Despite the 100,000 cover charge (which gets you one free drink), it's a great way to escape the street-level chaos and drown yourself in the music. Drinks are rather pricey (tequila shot is 90,000 dong [$4.50], and most beers are around 50,000), but the atmosphere is a little more upscale. Great music, if a little loud. On a typical Friday night this place is filled with 20-somethings Vietnamese and a random assortment of foreign expats; the backpacker crowd seems to be quite small at this venue.

    Just a candid warning for the men: many of the beautiful, friendly ladies in this place may indeed be very willing to come back to your place... but they're going to charge you for it. The clientele at this venue tend to have money, and the upper class prostitutes know that.
