Lonely Planet review for Tamarind Café

A relaxed cafe-restaurant with lounge-around cushioned seating, plenty of space and wi-fi. Offers an eclectic menu but is best for tabouli, eggplant claypot and salads. Drinks include heavenly lassis, zesty juices and wine by the glass. Our only quibble is that it’s a tad on the expensive side and all prices are in dollars.

    Delicious vegetarian food

    traveleatspa recommends this,

Every time I visit Hanoi - I have a meal at Tamarind - and I'm not a vegetarian. They have both western and eastern style vegetarian food. The nice thing about their food is that it's so good - you forget it's vegetarian! The portion size is good too so you really feel that you're getting a complete meal. They also have a good selection of healthy drinks to choose from. Only downside is - it can get hot inside when the temps are high.

    Great vegetarian restaurant.

    claudiliomar recommends this,

The food was lovely and the smoothies were especially good. I recommend the twin crepes and the veggie mushroom steak. The only food item I ordered that wasn't to my taste was the pecan/nut muffin (or pie, I don't remember what they call it exactly). It is quite disappointing in size (small) and in nuts (only peanuts).

    Vegetarian delights

    alli_grant recommends this,

This hip and trendy cafe offers a completely vegetarian menu that will appeal to both the strict vego and carnivores alike! Tamarind cafe chefs have created a menu that makes even the biggest meat lover drool at the numerous options. Be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or an in between snack for the ever hungry traveller - you'll find something that appeals. And even better-it appeals to the backpocket too! Staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere will want to have you lounging around for hours.

    Tamarind cafe

    mackat recommends this,

Great cafe with a few winnng features. Firstly, the pureed dragon fruit juice on the menu is delicious and the the other food choices are interesting with Indian, Viet, Thai and Italian twists. As a vegetarian it's an unsual change to be able to consider the entire menu and Tamarind cafe does not disappoint. The quesadillas are delicious and a good energy boost if you're leaving for a Handspan tour (they leave from Tamarind, but tickets for tours are for sale from their shopfront next door). Tasty fresh food in a lovely quiet retreat, from the bustling streets of Hanoi.
