Lonely Planet review for Jazz Club Minh
This is the grown-up, late-night side of Hanoi you probably never thought existed. Cool, mustachioed Quyen Van Minh is Hanoi's sax maestro - a cool cat who blows a mean horn. He holds court in his smoky jazz club nightly, often playing host to guest performers from around the world.

Great live music and cheap drinkable plonk!
pratyeka recommends this,
The location has changed to the third floor of a restaurant complex north of the roundabout directly east of Hanoi train station... it's on the eastern side of the road, and you want the street-facing restaurant vs. the courtyard stuff behind it. Search online for the location, you'll find it.
Live jazz every night from 9PM. Don't be upset if you arrive earlier and the place is a little empty, it does fill up.
Food is acceptable but nothing to write home about: almost everyone eats elsewhere first, arrives promptly before 9, and proceeds to slosh plonk, smoke and listen to Jazz.
Typically you'll get 2-3 hours of live Jazz with a break in the middle. Performers are relaxed. A beautiful local Jazz singer bangs out renditions of classics, keeping the eye candy tight-dressed Jazz siren tradition going.
Most nights, Minh only performs briefly in person, but if you get him on a good night like a personal occasion, he will often go until the wee hours, socializing enthusiastically before breaking out in to beautiful jaz sax solos.
A lovely venue, unique in the region and definitely worth supporting.
