I am going to be in SE Asia (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand) for 4 months starting in January. I was planning to bring my Blackberry Passport phone and just use it for internet via wifi whenever I can get it. Is this a good idea, or is it worthwhile to get a SIM card? Is there a SIM card that will work in all of these countries, and how much would this cost?

I am mainly travelling and doing other things (rockclimbing, meditation retreat) in Thailand and Indonesia... but it is in Vietnam where I…

PHONG NHA
We're going go to Phong Nha in August but we don't know exactly when we to arrive there. Anyone know if we have to do reservations for a tours day ? we want to see Paradise and Dark cave .
We're traveling with a 5 year old boy, anyone know if we could have a problem to book the tours . We know there're tours where the minimum age is 16 years.
Thank you

There are many Vietnam visa agencies. Everything, including dispatch of the visa approval letter, is online, so their location doesn’t matter.

Let me warn you from vietnamvisaonline {dot} net. First, they refused to ask their bank for some crucial information on wire-transfer. That cost me a full-day trip to their office. Then, the Visa Dept. issued a faulty approval letter; everybody may make a mistake. Vietnamvisaonline {dot} net again refused to ask for quick correction. That cost me…

Just a heads up and so you do not waste your time like I did but foreigners are no longer allowed to go to Nam Du Islands - you will be turned back at Rach Gia port

Vietnamese and Viet Kieu are allowed, so I am not sure why they are not allowing foreigners. My friend was there earlier this year and he said that there were about a half a dozen or so backpackers from various western countries there.

Safe travels!

Hi Everyone

In 2008 I was in Ninh Binh, took the standard tours including Tam Toc and enjoyed them, but at the time I was sold on a similar tour to Tam Toc that I have never forgotten and loved every minute of. I was told it was recently new then and highly recommended. We loved loved loved every minute.

We now only have days left in Vietnam and would love to go back to the area and do the tour again. Its very similar to Tam Toc,, you are rowed slowly through caves, via river systems and…

Hi!
I am thinking about going to Vietnam in the end of September, for 2 weeks. After researching a bit I've found opposite informations about the weather at that time.

I would fly in to Hanoi and visit also, at least, Sapa region, Halong Bay and would also go to Hoi an.

With your experience is this a good time to visit these regions? I see that in the north is Ok but what about the coastline?

Thanks!

A friend of mine told me of Ta Xua yesterday and I felt so excited to check out this place after reading more about it from this blog http://fionatravelsfromasia.com/cloud-hunting-ta-xua-unique-experience-vietnam/
However, it looks like not many foreign travellers have been there. I'm not even sure if it's safe and easy to go there as a lone traveller. Has anyone heard of this place before?
