6 days in Southern Vietnam

Hi All,

We will be in southern Vietnam next year in March and I was thinking about what to see in our limited time. I quite like the sound of Phu Quoc island and would also like to see some of the life in the Mekong Delta. Does flying in and out of Phu Quoc island to HCMC make sense (due to time constraints) or would anyone advise flying one way and then catching an overland ferry and bus (with a stop off in Can Tho to see some of the Delta) en route back to HCMC?

At the moment I am thinking…

Bac Son valley

Hello and good day, I'm looking for any good recommendations for budget lodging for Bac Son Valley. I haven't been able to find anything really online. Has anybody stayed there recently and can suggest something? Or exactly what is the best way to get in and appreciate this valley?

Cheers,
Dave

What to bring on your Vietnam expedition?

What do you think are the most important things to bring on your trip to Vietnam? It may sound like a cliché, but I think to be able to have an enjoyable experience, the most important thing is an open mind: http://www.lexiophiles.com/english/what-to-bring-the-ultimate-item-for-your-trip-to-vietnam. It is especially true if you haven't been to any other SE Asian countries, because there will be a thing or two that can surprise you.

Hoi An to Pleiku and Cambodian Border

Hi

I need to travel from Hoi An and arrive at the border crossing to Cambodia (Le Thanh-O Yadaw) and have read the info in the LP book. But wonder if anyone has travelled this by car and how long did it take and what was the cost to hire the car?? Or if only from Danang to the border that info would help too.

I need to be at the border well before 5pm as I undertsand the border closes at that time. Any experiences/advice/suggestions greatly appreciated.
Mike

Weather Dalat

Has someone recently (like less than a week ago) been to Dalat? If so, what is the weather like? Is it cold (I don't know if I can trust the weather forecast cause on there it seems pretty warm)?

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Which ATM and costs, withdrawal amount?

Just another question to find out right info after googling about ATMs in Vietnam. I read that Techcombank, HSBC allow the highest withdrawal out of ATMs 4 -6 million Vnd, other banks 2 million VND. But read that Citibank is 8 million VND? Says to avoid withdrawing from convenience stores and bars, sounds like some dodgy ones in Indonesia. I use Commonwealth which has low ATM fee plus % of withdrawal, but I read most Commonwealth banks are in HCMC not up in the North around Hanoi where we will…

Visa on Demand- "Fast Track Service"

I am arriving in HCMC airport at 11:40 PM on a Sunday night. The Visa on Demand Company I worked with offers a Fast Track Service" to get through the lines and obtain your visa quickly. Has anyone used this service? Think it is necessary? Expect a big line at 11:40 PM on a Sunday night in HCMC? Thank You
