Lonely Planet review for Mandarin Café
A magnet for travellers, the cheerful owner, Mr Cu, speaks English and French and serves big dollops of travel advice along with pho, BLTs, salads and pancakes.

Mandarin Cafe and Mr Cu, a gentleman
melaleuca recommends this,
Grey skies, a grey river, steady rain and Hue in January was not endearing itself to me. Not, that is, until I stepped into The Mandarin Cafe and met Mr Cu. The soup was cheering and even more cheering was Mr Cu. He gave me much travel info about Vietnam and also me showed his photographs which are stunning and insightful. In themselves they are a journey into Vietnam.
A meal and conversation at Mandarin Cafe is a most worthwhile experience.Good for: atmosphere, food, Budget Travellers, Solo Travellers, service, Families

hue, vietnam restaurant: mandarin cafe
melvynalan recommends this,
My wife is Vietnamese and she was born in Hue. We have been back numerous times over the past 22 years. Mr. Cu, owner, is very friendly and speaks excellent English. We ordered egg rolls, stir-fried noodles with beef and soup (bac choy) and a hamburger and fries for a Vietnamese relative who was trying American food for the 1st time. The Vietnamese dishes were good, the hamburger/fries were acceptable. Both my wife and I would recommend this restaurant-we will return, again. Also, all the walls have pictures of Vietnam, its people animals and fauna which are beautiful and all taken by Mr. Cul.
