  1. Dalat is For Lovers

    Blog: Twenty-Something Travel - 10 February 2011

Vietnam is a busy whirl of constant surprises. One day you’re learning about the American War another you seem to have walked into a postcard, and then one day, you wake up and you’re in Paris. Well, sort of. “The Paris of Vietnam” is the nickname of the city of Dalat. And boy are they [...]

  3. Why I’ll Never Return to Vietnam

    Blog: Nomadic Matt's Travel Site - 19 September 2010

I’ll never go back to Vietnam. Well, maybe never is too strong of a word. I am always willing to give a place a second chance. If I meet a girl who really wants to go to Vietnam, then maybe I’ll go. Or maybe there is a business trip that takes me there. Who knows! [...]

  4. Finishing the Journey/ A word of warning

    Blog: Nilikuta Shani - 9 July 2010

If the past three posts on this subject of motorcycle touring through Vietnam’s Central Highland region are any indication,  I loved that trip more than any other experience I’d had in Vietnam yet. The Central Highlands are such an incredibly … Continue reading →Finishing the Journey/ A word of warning is a post from: Nilikuta Shani

  5. Something is vibrating between my legs

    Blog: Nilikuta Shani - 23 June 2010

It’s not what you think. Somewhere along the four-hour bus trip between Saigon and the hillside town of Da Lat, I decided to try my hand at motorcycle touring. Admittedly, I have never driven a motorcycle,  and had ridden one … Continue reading →Something is vibrating between my legs is a post from: Nilikuta Shani

  6. Eat Bugs, Grasshopper

Blog: The Heather Report - 26 April 2010

I’ve always wanted to visit Dalat. Lonely Planet describes it as "Bizarro Vietnam" leaving me feeling that a trip to Vietnam would not be complete without a tour of Dalat. Dena was luckily open to the idea and off we went. After landing at the airport, with trees outside still covered in Christmas ornaments, we boarded a bus for the half hour ride through the hills to the Central Highlands town of Dalat. After humid, rainy and cold Cat Ba, the dry, pine scented air of the hills was a welcome relief.

  7. Farwell sweat Dalat

    Blog: Orn's travel blog - South-East Asia and China - 23 February 2010

In Iceland we have a saying that says that if you start at the wrong foot you’ll have a good journey ("Fall er farar heill”).  That certainly was true for our stay in Dalat.  When we arrived five days ago we arrived late in the evening but we managed to get a ride to a [...]

  8. ahhh sweat Dalat

    Blog: Orn's travel blog - South-East Asia and China - 20 February 2010

After two days in Dalat we absolutely love the town.  First of all the town is high up in the highlands (1,475 m.) and the weather is cooler than by the coast.  We have had between 20-25°C during the day with a slight breeze and a bit cooler in the night so you don’t have [...]

    Blog: Orn's travel blog - South-East Asia and China - 19 February 2010

Since we left Phu Quoc Island on Monday we have kind of just been moving from one vehicle to the next.  To make a long story short we just – took a taxi to the pier, fast boat to the mainland, bus to Can Tho, walked to a hotel where we slept, took a taxi [...]

  10. Getting closer to Vietnam. Dalat to Mui Ne, Vietnam

    Blog: Chronicles of a year-long break-up - 25 January 2010

Dalat was a bit of a let down to be honest. The town was grimy, uninteresting and pretty damn cold. Apparently the attraction stands in the day trips so in that respect we didn’t do the town justice. Exhausted after the adventures of our previous day, the last thing we wanted to do was get [...]

  11. You don’t know man, you weren’t there. Nha Trang to Dalat, Vietnam, BlogSherpa

    Blog: Chronicles of a year-long break-up - 24 January 2010

I’m not really sure how, but I have somehow found myself wedged between two surly Vietnamese business men in the back of a jeep. In the baking heat of the day I am sweating profusely in my tank top and hotpants, flinching every time they eye up my legs and hugging my now-redundant motorbike helmet [...]

  12. Dalat

Blog: Where is Rob? - 20 November 2009

We had one of two options for our 4th stop on our open bus ticket either Muine another beach resort a few hours from Nhatrang or Dalat a cooler city high up in the mountains of central Vietnam. As we had done the beaches in Thailand and were just leaving a beach resort here and in the middle of planning going back to Thailand to do the beaches again we thought it was a good idea to skip the beach [[ This is a content summary only. 13. Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam…

Blog: Rice and Rock Concerts - 28 July 2009

Those three countries sounds pretty whirlwind given that it's only a touch over a fortnight ago when I was still in China. The truth though is that my time in South East Asia has been pretty quiet with a lot of lazing around.

  14. Hué to Ho Chi Minh City

    Blog: Kieron Clark - 7 July 2009

In Hoi An we ate ‘white roses’ – tiny shrimp fried in thin rice paper parcels. In Saigon we had spring rolls, greasy and spicy and still-hot from the pan. In Hué a speciality was bahn xio – shrimp, beansprouts and shredded pork wrapped in a crispy, crèpe-like pancake, while in Hanoi, we ate [...]

  15. Pete Moran: Easy Rider

    Blog: barnz2k : Vegan Nomad - 23 June 2009

So one of the other popular things to do in Vietnam, is take an Easy Rider Tour. The Easy Riders were originally a small group of guys on old motorbikes such as the Russian Minsk (much like the Russian favourite AK47, it can take a beating and will last the times) who began taking tourists [...]

  16. Vietnam by Bus

    Blog: barnz2k : Vegan Nomad - 10 June 2009

The best way to see Vietnam (OK maybe 2nd best after getting a motor bike ala Top Gear) is by Bus. Various places sell hop-on-hop-off bus tickets, topping out at around $45. The most popular route is to start in Hanoi and head South to, Hue, Hoi An, Mui Ne, Nha Trang, Dalat and end [...]
