I understand that a visa approval letter is necessary prior to entering Vietnam by air when planning to use the visa on arrival option. Are ALL the on-line services that provide the visa approval letter reliable? Do I merely pick the cheapest option? Is it safe to pay with a credit card? Yes, if I use this service I'll call my credit card company in advance to advise them of a foreign purchase to avoid it being blocked. Any glitches? Any particular services recommended?
We are going to Vietnam for 2 weeks, leaving next week!
Has anyone been to Bac Ha Market? Did you think it was impressive?
How many days do people recommend in Sa Pa?
Currently I am thinking of doing one day less in Hoi An (currently 3) and one more in Sapa (currently 2, 1 for Bac Ha and 1 for hiking).
Please let me know your thoughts.
Travelling to Vietnam at the end of November and planning to go from Ninh Binh - Phong Nha so we can check out the caves from the main town via bike.
Can anyone give me advice on the easiest way to get from Ninh Binh to Phong Nha and also tips on once we get there whether we should do a tour or if we can head around by ourselves on a bike and do some sight seeing.
Ok, so I am headed to Vietnam from Canada in January for 7 weeks. This is what I figured out so far for my visa options:
1) I can use a service such as this (http://www.vietnamvisaprovider.com/) which appears to be $15 for 3-month visa plus the stamping fee at the Hanoi airport which is $25 or $50 - haven't figured that out yet.
2) Go through the embassy in Ottawa, Canada which they tell me is $100 + $25 for shipping the thing to me (I don't live anywhere near there) + 3% of the total fee for…
I am wondering if anyone had any insight into the visa entry process for US citizens in Vietnam. We are arriving in HCMC from the US at 12am and then taking an AirAsia flight to Bangkok at 9am (international flights were booked well in advance, so that's why the stop in HCMC). We are then flying back to HCMC a few days later to continue our vacation in Vietnam.
Does anyone have any insight if this situation requires a single entry visa or a multiple entry visa? We are not planning…
I’ve done a search here and am still somewhat confused. Should I use ATM machines in Vietnam or do I bring US dollars to exchange for Vietnamese dong? Some postings say to use ATM machines, some say to exchange cash dollars at a bank, some say to go to the market and some say to find money changers. Which is best?
I realize there are fees on both ends when using an ATM. I always notify my ATM card bank in advance of travels and I have the contact phone numbers with me should I run into…
I found a couple of topics on visas, but it seems all of the responses are several months old. As I understand, the visa requirements for a US citizen to enter Vietnam changed very recently.
I am traveling in 3 weeks, and need to get a visa ASAP! Since I can't seem to get any answers from the embassy about how much money I need to send to get an actual visa, I guess I will have to do the "visa on arrival" option. I need to decide on a company that provides the required letter.
Hi guys I'm in Vietnam and going to go to Sapa tonight .. (Arrive tomorrow) I haven't booked any acomadation yet and am wondering if anyone has advise. I'm a 21 year old solo female traveler and am trying to be on a budget but safe. Thanks for helping! :)
Hello! I am a 30 year old female planning a solo 7 night trip in December/January to Northern/Central Vietnam and need some advice. I already know it's going to be chillier than other times of year (I live on a tropical island so the weather will be a nice change) and I know one week is obviously short, but I'm working with what I have here. This is what I'd LIKE to do, but looking for tips on transportation/not sure how realistic it is:
