I currently live in Hanoi and I will travel for 6 weeks from the 22th of November to the 8th of January. To sump-up I would like to avoid a rush-trip and taking loads of buses. I enjoy: nature, hiking, motorbike, swimming, temples/history and museums. I roughly know where I wanna go but I have trouble to balance my length of time.
I am 20 and my originate idea was to travel by motorbike, but my friends cannot join (all working); Unfortunately I fear 6 weeks is too much for a solo…
I have spent 16 days visiting all that region from the Cambodian border (Chau Doc) to Saigon, except the coast. It is interesting but it becomes monotonous after a while : flat, with only rivers, channels, islands, rice fields and orchards.
I started with the speed boat Phnom Penh-Chau Doc, a good way to go from Cambodia to Vietnam or vice-versa. Departure Phnom Penh 13:00, arrival Chau Doc 17:00 (from Vietnam to Cambodia : departure Chau Doc 7:30, arrival Phnom Penh 12:30).…
We will have only two nights at Phong Nha. We will be coming from Hue, by some mode of transport (bus or taxi) and staying at the Phong Nha farmstay for two nights, after which we fly to Hanoi. So there's not much flexibility, and probably just leaves us with one day to explore the caves and park. We definitely want a good tour of the caves and, if there's time, some of the natural environment in the park. Can anyone suggest a good tour that we can take? Many of the ones I've seen include…
applying for a visa off to Vietnam 9th December is it better to apply via vietnamvisachoice.com as suggested in LP? Anyone had any experience? Not been to Asia since 1986 so advice would be useful, mostly travelled in W. Africa. Any suggestions for accommodation in Ho Chi Minh on arrival until I get my bearings. Thanks
My wife and I stayed one night at the Google Hotel in Hue Vietnam. We selected it because of the enthusiastic review in our Lonely Planet guide. Perhaps this hotel once was an "excellent new place" with "huge flat screen TV's" but those days are long gone. We reserved a "deluxe" room, for $30 per night. The first room they put us in, on the 3rd floor, was not satisfactory because the door would not latch and lock. In the second room, on the 4th floor, the door would lock, but it smelled as…
will be exploring Mekong delta in mid December, entering it from Phu Quoc island and going to HCMC. Relatively flexi with time could spend 2-5 days, but obviously don't want to overstay. Interested in homestays, floating market and just basically explore the region. Maybe someone could help with itinerary, homestay contacts and thing to do/see.

We are going to Vietnam in November and also visiting Laos and northern Thailand. This will be our third trip and we wanted to finish at a nice beach. We are flying out of HCMC and were thinking Phu Quoc or Mui Ne for the last few days. We want to relax and have restaurants and bars close by preferably within walking distance. We were leaning towards Phu Quoc but as it's high season we are not so sure. Would any one who has been to both have any advice on which place would be better?…
Hi, I'm in Vietnam and need to go on a visa run soon, does anyone know how much a 3 or 6 month Vietnam visa costs in Kuala Lumpur? Better still can you recommend a travel agent who can sort it out?
