Iam Pakistani backpacker living in Dubai, UAE. Planning to Visit Tashkent in next few months, can any one please explain the process how can I get LOI, for Uzbekistan. Any recommendations for any genuine travel agent and how much cost it will incorporate to get LOI?
I am not normally a nervous traveller. But did I read somewhere in Uzbekistan there is the possibility of shake-downs from the police? One is very vulnerable especially when traveling town to town with all one's money and valuables. Is this an occasional annoyance where a small bribe is unavoidable or a normal fact of life where at worse you could lose a lot of money? I was thinking of bringing cash only on my trip with credit cards as a back-up. Any suggestions?
A brand, spanking new train started service between Tashkent and Andijon on the 05/Septembet/2016. It leaves Tashkent at about 8 a.m., and takes about 6 hours to get to Andijon. It stays there about an hour and heads back. It gets into Tashkent at about 21.21.

Hi everyone !
Reading many past posts I'm still confused....How feasible is it to cross the border in Hojeli or Urgench and go to Turkmenistan to Darvaza?
I guess we would need a transit visa for Turkmenistan and a double entry for Uzbekistan? Also could we easily find a tour agency in Nukus to help us do that or can we handle by ourselves?
Thanks a lot in advance for your advice
