Lonely Planet review
Everything you could want in a historic national park lodge and more, the 'Quinault' has a huge, roaring fireplace, peek-a-boo lake views, a manicured cricket-pitch-quality lawn, huge comfy leather sofas, a regal reception area and – arguably – the finest eating experience on the whole peninsula. The latter is thanks to the memorable sweet potato pancakes with hazelnut butter that are served up in the beautiful lakeside restaurant for breakfast (and are worth trying even if you're not staying here). Built in 1926, the Quinault's warmth and character are no secret and advance reservations are recommended. Trails into primeval forest leave from just outside the door.
