Poring over ancient manuscripts and Japanese silk screens is about as perfect a way to spend an afternoon at the Arthur M Sackler Gallery which comprise the National Museum of Asian Art. Slightly incongruously, they are also home to more than 1300 works by the American painter James Whistler.
