Resembling London’s Crystal Palace, this iron-and-glass greenhouse provides a beautiful setting for displays of exotic and local plants. Make sure to check out the Titan Arum, also known as Amorphophallus titanum (‘giant misshapen penis’) and the ‘corpse flower’ (a Sumatran native that blooms rarely and randomly throughout the year, but when it does, it smells like rotten meat. Mmm!) Behind the conservatory, across Independence Ave, you’ll find the grand Bartholdi Fountain.
