Lonely Planet review
'The Fed' conjures strong images of high-powered executives and bureaucrats crafting the economic ebbs and flows of the country. Unfortunately, you won't see too much of that on this tour, which focuses on the architecture of the Eccles Building that houses the Fed. It does feature a film, The Fed Today , and a visit to the Board Room. The tour is recommended for adults only; kids under college age will likely get bored at the Board.
Visitors can also view the Fed's art collection, parts of which are displayed in the atrium of the Eccles Building. The permanent collection is a survey of American art dating from the 1830s to the present. The Board also presents rotating thematic exhibitions of borrowed art on varied themes, such as currency design. A recent exhibit, Complexity, showcased work by artists employing a variety of media to explore complex systems like traffic, the weather and the stock market.
