    Taylor Gourmet

When you just need a good sandwich, stat, Taylor’s got you covered. For about (or a little over) $10 you can walk out of here with a foot of excellent anything between two pieces of bread, dressed with nicely shredded lettuce and brilliant oil and vinegar. We race here for the Race Street – turkey, prosciutto, pesto and mozzarella. There’s a good Italian deli in the back.

    Breadline

‘Food is ammunition – don’t waste it!’ commands a WWII-era poster on the wall of this polished bakery and sandwich shop. Come here for a good, cheap lunch, but don’t be surprised if you end up waiting in lines stretching out the door; office workers love the line, and with reason. The fresh and filling sandwiches are gorgeous, as are the to-die-for sweet treats.
