Chicken restaurants in Washington, DC

  1. A

    Chix

The DC area takes its Peruvian chicken seriously. If you haven’t had the stuff, it’s slow-roasted, rotisserie style, and god is it good: succulent, juicy, the savory skin complementing the comforting pillowy meat. Most of the best Peruvian chicken (pollo a la brasa) in the area is actually outside of the city in the Maryland and Virginia ’burbs, but Chix is about as good as it gets in the District itself. Plus, Chix is green and good: it was built with sustainable materials and the cups are made out of fast-degrading corn.

  2. B

    El Pollo Rico

Drooling locals have flocked to this Peruvian chicken joint for decades now in search of tender, juicy, flavor-packed birds served with succulent (highly addictive) dipping sauces, crunchy fries and sloppy ‘slaw – lines form outside the door come dinnertime. EPR is one of the first purveyors of Peruvian chicken in the metro area, and age hasn’t hurt quality at one of the original kings of polla a la brasa.
