Sonoma has long stood out from the wine-bar pack. The decor is sleek-chic but warm, like a fireplace den decorated by a coutre Scandinavian designer’s grandmother, and the food is fantastic, a nice sampling of Mid-Atlantic delicacies like bluebay mussels with chorizo and rainbow trout laid out with summer pumpkins. You can rely on the staff to pick good wine pairings, but if you’re an oenophile the extensive grape menu shouldn’t disappoint.
