Abracadabra: the door automatically swings open at the Topaz to reveal an Arabian Nights–type decor. Jewel-tone colors dominate the rooms – purple love seats, sapphire-blue drapes and pale-green lamps, all set off by satiny white beds and pillows. This is a Kimpton hotel all the way, with the hip mod-cons, genial service and free-flowing wine you expect. It also provides passes to the YMCA workout facility on the next block.
