‘The Phase’ claims to be the oldest lesbian bar in the country; it’s certainly the best lesbian dive in DC, not that there’s much competition for the crown. It’s great, friendly fun by any measure, chockablock with jelly wrestling, free pizza nights and an unpretentious but raucous enough atmosphere for ladies on the prowl. Come early to mingle in peace and quiet, or late to shake your booty on the packed dance floor. Line-dancing lessons and a pool tournament take place on Sundays.
