Photo of the Day: Funny Beer Bait & Bullets Picture
Blog: Two Backpackers - 25 November 2010
After a trip to Springfield, Illinois, my Mother brought home this funny photograph for our enjoyment. Yup, she pulled off on the side of the road to capture this essential convenience store. I can’t help but imagine all the evil things one can do after visiting this store. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope this funny [...]

Beacon Can Do Better Than a Pink Flamingo
Blog: MuseumChick - 24 November 2010
On my hunt for unique furniture and while discovering street art in Beacon I came across something I never saw before… …yard art. While strolling down the backstreets off of Main Street, I found a sculpture. It was just a simple form of metal loops but I found it very interesting that this house’s owner [...]

Beacon Can Do Better Than a Pink Flamingo
Blog: MuseumChick - 24 November 2010
On my hunt for unique furniture and while discovering street art in Beacon I came across something I never saw before... ...yard art. While strolling down the backstreets off of Main Street, I found a sculpture. It was just a simple form of metal loops but I found it very interesting that this house's owner decided to dedicate their entire front yard to art. Maybe this was Mr. Giordano's house, but my bashfulness kept me from knocking on the door to find out. ©2010 Danee Gilmartin All rights reserved

Photo of the Day: Cruise Ships & NYC Skylines
Blog: Two Backpackers - 22 November 2010
The best views of the New York City skyline can be seen from Pier A Park in Hoboken, New Jersey. Lower Manhattan is now under heavy development, restoring sky scrapers at ground zero. I love this picture of the Norwegian Cruise Line with the NYC skyline backdrop. The ships leave from a NYC port on [...]

Discovering Street Art in Beacon New York
Blog: MuseumChick - 20 November 2010
Mr. MuseumChick and I have been sitting on the floor and eating off of a Tupperware box since we moved back from Paris and we were in desperate need to get our place together to finally have some friends over. In a search to find some unique furniture for my new NYC apartment, I headed out of the city to one of my favorite small New York State towns, Beacon. I couldn't believe I was going to take the Metro North for 2 hours and not see my favorite contemporary art space, the Dia Art Foundation, that is located in...

autumn music: preparation and presence
Blog: Music Road - 19 November 2010
The week before Advent begins, Thanksgiving is coming, a friend's birthday soon, thinking about and organizing journeys long and short, and creative work asking for differing sorts of focus. A season of turning, a time of preparation, and of being present in the moment. Two songs that go along with this time of the year, for me,each in its own way is about mystery:
