Lonely Planet review for Gaulart & Maliclet

Locals crowd around the shared tables at this tiny bistro, known as 'Fast & French, ' to nibble on Gallic cheeses and sausages or nightly specials ($15) that include bread, soup, a main dish and wine.

Fast and French is one of my favorite places to eat in Charleston. It has a unique charm unlike any other restaurant in the city. The restaurant has been here for 35 years, and has the best homemade mustard (I buy my mustard here). You must try the ginger punch!! It is amazing, but you must love ginger. On Thursday nights, they do fondue, but make sure you have a reservation. Be prepared to be scrunched in...the place is small and there are long shared tables, so you will probably be sitting next to other people, but that is part of the charm of the place. Make sure you are patient and have time to eat for at least an 45 min...it is worth the wait.
