Greyhound buses make runs all over the country from the Greyhound Bus Terminal (214-655-7085; www.greyhound.com; 205 S Lamar St). Direct Greyhound buses connect Dallas with cities such as Austin ($32, 3½ hours) and Houston ($37, 4½ hours).

Car & motorcycle

Every major rental-car company has an office at DFW, and many are at Love Field too.


Amtrak’s San AntonioChicago Texas Eagle stops at downtown’s Union Station (214-653-1101; www.amtrak.com; 401 S Houston St).

American Airlines’ home port is Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport (DFW; 972-574-4420; www.dfwairport.com), 16 miles northwest of the city via I-35 E. Great Britain and Mexico are among the nonstop international destinations. Southwest Airlines uses smaller, more convenient Dallas Love Field (DAL; 214-670-6073; www.dallas-lovefield.com), just northwest of downtown (take Inwood Rd northeast from Harry Hines Blvd and turn left on Cedar Springs).
