Well-behaved children are certainly welcome at Hotel Crescent Court, but you tend to see more silver-haired blue-blooded guests checking in. They say 10 kinds of marble are used throughout the stately hotel, and at least half that many are in the soaring lobby. A British West Indies breeze blows through the guest rooms - coral spreads or chairs, bold tropical accent pillows - but the suites run to the contemporary. The Metropolitan, for example, has wooden floors and furnishings that resemble modern art. For years the on-site spa has been garnering press attention and hotel guests can sink into the whirlpools amid classic columns and aquamarine tiles without booking a cure. Upstairs Japanese fusion restaurant Knob strives for innovation and eclecticism (oysters in filo pastry with wasabi garlic sauce anyone?). More traditional patrons head to the top floor Crescent Club for dinner. The difference between new money and old?
