Entry is usually no more than a couple of bucks and if you dig hip hop and indie grooves a little more than the casino has-been scene, then this is the Reno venue for you.

Las Vegas Philharmonic
For over a decade, this 70-piece orchestra has been playing sold-out shows at the Artemus W Ham Concert Hall of the UNLV Performing Arts Center, as well as at the grand openings of casino resorts, silent-movie screenings at the CineVegas film fest, and concerts by touring opera stars and virtuoso musicians.

It's no contest: Vegas' most stellar DJs spin at this off-Strip jewel box. Deep house, trance and techno play in the main multistoried dance hall, while the sidecar lounge heaves with hip-hop, retro '80s and mash-ups. Shortish lines outside the door ease you in to see the honeys lickety-split.

The throbbing beats at this faux-Asian hideaway may peak earlier than at other places, but there's rarely a long line. At the moment, Latin rules Wednesday with hip-hop straight through the weekend, including hyphy on Sunday night. Bites from downstairs Chinois are served. Strict dress code.
