Mad Italian
Across the street from Mia’s, the Mad Italian is much loved among NAU students for its ambience and atmosphere and is one of the best local spots to drink, dance and shoot some pool. On most nights there’s a DJ playing dance music, but occasionally there is a live band. If you don’t like large, fun-loving crowds, avoid going on the weekends.

Mogollon Brewing Company
A wrinkle-free party-happy crowd makes this brewpub one of the most happening places in town. The back room morphs into a club with a dance floor and large stage where punchy local and national bands play most nights. The owners also operate Arizona’s only distillery, the High Spirits Distillery, famous for its prickly pear vodka.

Uptown Billiards
Uptown is upscale, at least by Flagstaff standards, so expect a mix of suits, sweethearts and post-college friends chalking up the cues over beers. Forget about shooting straight if you dip too deeply into the extensive whiskey and vodka menu.

Rainbow’s End
This roadhouse has been a local fixture since the 1950s and has the scarred-wood bar and worn pool tables to prove it. Live bands, playing everything from country to rock to Top 40, heat up the action on Friday and Saturday nights.

Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra
With only seven performances between September and April, you’ll have to be lucky to be in town for one, but if you are, it’s well worth a go. Concerts are held in the Ardrey Auditorium on the NAU campus.

Flagstaff Brewing Company
A low-key place with a fun outdoorsy vibe, handcrafted brews, live music and lots of Scotch just a stumble away from downtown. The pub grub - pizza, burgers, soup and salads - is quite good.
