Detour–Inside Story on Making of a Movie
Blog: A Traveler's Library - 22 May 2012
In a slight detour from Spain week, I want to share this article I wrote after attending a screening of the Sam Peckinpah/Steve McQueen movie Junior Bonner. When director Sam Peckinpah and his assistants headed out west to scout out sites for a new movie in 1972, one of their stops was in a mountain town a [...]This content is a post from: A Traveler's Library To comment on this post or search for related information, click on the link to A Traveler's Library. Photo of the Day: Antelope Canyon, Navajo Nation, Arizona
Blog: Trans-Americas Journey - 16 March 2012
Tsé bighánílíní. That’s the Navajo name for Antelope Canyon on the Navajo Indian Reservation outside Page, Arizona. The phrase means ”the place where water runs through rocks” which is appropriate since this photogenic slot canyon was formed by water and continues to flood during seasonal rains. Clear skies and sun greeted us during our visit to this amazing natural formation allowing Eric to capture this dramatic shaft of light. Like what you see?

Traveling For Love of the Game: Reasons To Attend Baseball’s Spring Training
Blog: Suzy Guese - 14 March 2012
The sound of a baseball meeting a catcher’s glove signifies everything about spring for me. I get chills to hear it for the first time, especially after a long winter. Shadows are cast over a bullpen plate as a game takes place just steps away. Hordes of fans like myself watch the pitcher-catcher duo practice [...]

Hiking the Havasupai Trail to Havasu Falls
Blog: GoBackpacking - 28 February 2012
ne of my all time favorite hiking and camping destinations is Havasu Canyon in the northern part of Arizona, United States. Located on the Havasupai Native American reservation, the park is not US Government run (like the nearby Grand Canyon), but is instead operated by the Havasupai Tribe. Havasu Creek is a tributary of the [...]

Parents Only Getaway: Miraval Arizona
Blog: Ciao Bambino! - 11 July 2011
My love for spa’s started after my second son was born. He cried for hours each night and I remember thinking that I needed to go somewhere very quiet! About a year later, I discovered the restorative and rejuvenating benefits of a spa vacation. Miraval Arizona is one that consistently makes all of the “Top Destination Spas” list and my husband and I were lucky enough to be invited on a corporate trip to experience it first hand. My husband never been to a destination spa before and assumed they would ...

Sunsets Over the Grand Canyon
Blog: Vagabond3 - 22 May 2011
This was the last sunset of Rob’s and my road trip across the US, my first road trip ever. Rob was moving from Florida to LA, and I had built a somewhat convoluted route that ended at one of the most spectacular natural sights in the US. However, never having been on a road trip before, I placed pins in the map without considering travel time or time of arrival....
