Museum of Natural History & Science

I remember going there in 2006 and stared at it in awe, I was severely impressed at all the hard work they put into it.  I also bought a book about Rushmore and about the workers that worked very hard to make this sculpture.  The book was by Nick Clifford, who also worked on Rushmore.  My family and I were only there for a little bit though, but long enough to honor the four presidents and the workers.  This is a fantastic sight to see for the average traveler.

I visited Mt Rushmore when i was five years old, so my memories are somewhat faded. But i do remember it, which says something about the impression it makes. Its scale is extraordinary - i remember looking up in awe at these incredible figures, men who are actually mountains. It's also really odd, and you can't help asking questions. Like, why carve giant presidential heads into the Black Hills? Did they think they were in Vegas? Are they going to add any more? Could they make it into a reality show? Should Obama get his own mountain? So many things to contemplate.

Apparently these days it's good to combine a trip to Mt Rushmore with a visit to Deadwood. Why not, eh?
