MoMA Design & Book Store
The flagship store at the Museum of Modern Art is a savvy spot to souvenir shop in one fell swoop. Aside from stocking must-have books (from art and architecture tomes to pop culture readers and kids' picture books), you'll find art prints and posters, edgy homewares, jewelry, bags and one-of-a-kind knick-knacks. For furniture, lighting and MUJI merchandise, head to the MoMA Design Store across the street.

SFMOMA Museum Store
Design fetishists may have to be pried away from the glass shelves and display cases, which brim with cereal bowls that look like spilt milk, Pantone color-swatch espresso cups and watches with a face to match Mario Botta's black-and-white SFMOMA facade. Contemporary art books will keep aspiring collectors absorbed for hours, and kids will be entranced by William Wegman's video of dogs spelling out the alphabet.
