Westlake Center information
Scorned by locals, this cheese-ball shopping mall is useful these days primarily as a landmark. Should you be inclined to part with your money, there's a food court, plenty of underwhelming chain stores and the obligatory Starbucks. More interesting is Westlake Park outside, Seattle's diminutive central plaza. The park has recently been cleaned up and equipped with European-style seating, licensed buskers and outdoor games, including table tennis and cornhole.
This is also where the monorail stops and starts on its 1.2-mile journey to and from Seattle Center.
