Popular for meetings and weddings, this somewhat conventional hotel is located within walking distance of the plaza. Its rooftop pool and luxury spa add a touch of elegance, as do exclusive packages pairing golf, skiing or opera with spa treatments and dinner at the marvellous Old House Restaurant.
Recent renovations are addressing complaints of worn, torn and stale furnishings, hot-and-cold running water (when all you want is a hot shower) and other issues that take the shine off the experience here. It's doubtful that they'll address thier hefty daily parking tab, or the sky-high prices in the restaurant. What the heck - get to the spa where treatments are concocted fresh daily from clay, aloe, sage, juniper and other heavenly ingredients. The location is tough to beat and the rooms are reasonably large and generally comfortable. Be sure to ask for a room on the north or east side for the best views (and resist being placed in a room above the noisy banquet hall).
