    Escape from New York Pizza

The Haight’s obligatory mid-bender stop for a hot slice. Pesto with roasted garlic and potato will send you blissfully off to carbo-loaded sleep, but the sundried tomato with goat cheese, artichoke hearts and spinach will recharge you to go another round.

  2. B

    Pauline's Pizzeria

Bonding experiences begin with a shared thin-crust pie at Pauline's. First you'll wait for a table, then you'll wait for your pie - but with romantic candle light, crayons for drawing on your paper tablecloth, and zesty organic salads, there are worthy distractions before the main event. This is the pizza that makes locals smug and visiting Chicagoans and New Yorkers nervous, yet it's a good time had by all.

  3. C

    Chow

Just like its sister restaurant Park Chow, this place offers affordable arugula and goat cheese pizzas, pastas, and grilled and roasted meats. There might be a wait for a table that's not by the bathroom or right in front of the door, but the prices are right and the friendly staff make it a pleasant place to dish the dirt with friends.

    Za

Sit down and savor that slice, already. You don’t get a gourmet, cornmeal-dusted, thin-crust slice like this every day. Pizza lovers brave the uphill climb for pizza slices piled with fresh ingredients, a pint of Anchor Steam, and a cozy bar setting with flirtatious pizza-slingers – all for under 10 bucks.

  5. E

    Cinecittà

That aroma you followed into this 18-seat eatery is thin-crust Roman pizza, probably the crowd-pleasing Capricciosa: artichoke hearts, olives, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto and egg. Save room for housemade tiramisu - hands down the best in North Beach.
