Lonely Planet review for La Taquería

No debatable tofu, saffron rice, spinach tortilla or mango salsa here: just classic tomatillo or mesquite salsa, marinated, grilled meats and flavorful beans inside a flour tortilla - optional housemade spicy pickles and sour cream are highly recommended.

Not the only Mexican kid on the block.

    dropthesci recommends this,

While La Taqueria can probably be found in nearly every SF city guide, traveling companion publication, and hipster-center-of the-foody-universe-blog from here to NYC, I am here to tell you... it's only mostly that good. While not exactly falling victim to the hype machine (the burritos are tasty), I think La Taqueria has become almost an overly commercial version of what a good Taqueria should be. I mean the last time I was there I stood in a long line to pay something like $18 for two burritos! If you are not a burrito connoisseur, (and that IS what you should be ordering at LA Taqueria), head outside to Mission St., look right or left, and head to any other restaurant that has taqueria painted on the window. Almost all the Mexican joints in this area are equally as good, and most have better atmosphere and cheaper prices.
