Lonely Planet review for Lovejoy’s Tea Room
All the chintz you’d expect from an English tea room, but with a San Francisco point of view: art curators talk video-installation art over Lapsang souchong, scones and clotted cream, while dual dads take their daughters and dolls out for the ‘wee tea’ of tiny sandwiches, a petit four and hot chocolate.

best place in SF for a casual afternoon tea service!
tcko recommends this,
delicious scones with double devon cream, crustless tea sandwiches, and a bottomless pot of tea all served in a cozy room with a crazy aunt beatrice feel - mismatched tea sets and couches covered in lacework - this is definitely not your ritz-carlton high tea. there is room enough for bridal shower parties of 20 so it's a good idea to make a reservation on the weekends, but most times you can just pop in for a leisurely tea. my favorites tea sandwiches: chicken and asparagus, pear and stilton, and of course, the roast beef and horseradish. and don't forget to stop in at their shop across the street for some tea to take home - i always get the vanilla roiboos.
